Starview Brews

Starview Brews is the culmination of decades of brewing passion from founder and head brewer Mike Knaub. Mike’s journey into beer began in the late 1970s through homebrewing, long before craft beer became mainstream, and evolved through years of experimentation, competition, and education within Pennsylvania’s homebrew community.

Over the years, Mike became deeply involved in regional homebrewing clubs, earned recognition at national competitions, and achieved certification as a BJCP beer judge. In the mid-1990s, he launched an early version of Starview Brewing Company as a contract brewing operation, distributing beers throughout the York, Lancaster, and Harrisburg markets—well ahead of the modern craft beer boom.

After years of planning and a renewed push beginning in 2013, Starview Brews officially opened its doors in Columbia, Pennsylvania on January 27, 2022. Built through hands-on effort and community support, the brewery reflects Mike’s dedication to traditional styles and balanced, approachable beer.

Starview Brews opened with a core lineup of five flagship beers, including Long Level Lager, Chickies Rock Cream Ale, Pinnacle Pils, Columbian Red IPA, and Chickies Rock Iron Brown Porter, with additional styles rotating regularly. With experience brewing more than 25 styles over the years, Starview offers a diverse yet grounded tap list in a warm, welcoming brewery setting.
